WASTELAND WEEKEND 2021 IS A GO!

WASTELAND WEEKEND 2021 IS A GO!

UPDATE 8.14.21

Wasteland Weekend is going forward as planned as a fully-vaccinated event

Wasteland Weekend 2021 will be requiring proof of full vaccination for all attendees (that includes volunteers, staff, performers, and regular ticket holders). This means proof of FULL vaccination, so be sure that your vaccination(s) took place with enough time for you to be fully vaccinated by the time you arrive at the event.
THE LAST DATE TO GET YOUR SECOND MODERNA OR PFIZER SHOT, OR FIRST JOHNSON & JOHNSON SHOT AND STILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION TO OUR EVENT IS SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2021
Negative Covid test results will not be accepted for admission in place of proof of vaccination.
For entry please bring:
Valid Government issued photo ID
Your vaccination document (copy or original)
Your ticket
OPTIONAL QR CODE FOR FASTER VACCINE VERIFICATION
If you are a California resident, please try to get a QR code via the state’s vaccine digital verification system website. You can get it and read more details HEREhttps://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov
(This QR code is NOT on your vax card, you need to get it online at the link above.)
CA residents should still bring a printed copy of your proof of vaccination as well, but using these state-issued QR codes for our California attendees could help speed up our check-in process for everyone. Again, scanning codes is currently only suggested for California attendees. We do not have the capability to scan QR codes from other states or other systems.
If you are not from CA, or you are not able to get a QR code using the CA system, that’s fine, just bring your standard proof of vaccination.
NOTE: We have heard that a few other states also use this same SMART HEALTH CARD QR code, so you’re welcome to try and bring a QR code from another state, just have your regular vaccination proof as a backup). Look for this logo to know if you are using the right system:|

You can go here to learn more about the type of system that CA and other states/companies are using:
https://smarthealth.cards
If you have a QR code from CA / Smarthealth, you can even verify it works yourself by downloading and using the free verifier app on your smartphone:
DELTA VARIANT:
We realize that there have been some concerns with the spread of the Covid Delta variant, but we at this time we still feel confident our event can move forward safely. Wasteland is a relatively small OUTDOOR event, and most importantly, we are requiring all attendees to be vaccinated with no exception. (Most events asking for proof of vaccination have been also accepting a negative Covid test as an option up until now – we do not).
Some of you may remember that we originally intended to use a fully digital vaccine verification system. Unfortunately, a system like that is just not available to us. We waited as long as we could for that digital system or another one like it to be viable, but it just isn’t. We felt like we could not keep our attendees waiting any longer for details on what would be required for our event, so we are going forward with the verification system that is currently in use in most other places that are implementing one.

So while this may mean a bit more time is needed to process each attendee at check-in, we believe our gate staff can still efficiently keep the line moving, especially if our CA attendees (the bulk of our ticket buyers) bring a California QR code in addition to their vaccine document.

PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT:

As of today, April 7th, 2021, we are proud and excited to confirm that YES, Wasteland Weekend 2021 will be going forward as planned.

The Governor of California has announced that all residents over the age of 16 will be eligible for vaccination, and the entire state economy is planned to be reopened by June 15th.

Wasteland Weekend is still over five months away, we feel like we are in an excellent position to plan for the event to go ahead.

CURRENTLY, VACCINATIONS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ALL ATTENDEES.
All attendees will need to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination to enter the property.
No exceptions.

We expect that there would be some who don’t like this decision. We think it’s the best way to keep everyone safe at our event. You are welcome to disagree and stay home or do something else with your time. We won’t take it personally.
Please be aware that we will likely require proof of vaccination for our 2022 events as well. After that, we’ll see what the global pandemic situation looks like and go from there.

As for other pandemic-related requirements for the event, we will be working with the state and county to find out what we may need to do (such as possible mask requirements) and we will be posting that info as we get it. As we know, a lot can change over 5 months, and we will always put the health and safety of our attendees first, but we’re optimistic that this positive trend will continue changing things for the better.

Want to come to Wasteland this year? Great! We want to see all of you back happy and healthy – So get your vaccine!

We look forward to having a fully-vaccinated population at our outdoor event. And for once, the wind will be a bonus (creating even safer conditions)!

Tickets are ON SALE NOW (and have been) and volunteer, performer, and tribe theme zone apps are planned to go live this month as well.
Welcome back, Wastelanders.
