Wasteland Weekend’s Code Of Conduct

Wasteland Weekend has always had rules and guidelines. The full list can be found on the FAQ / RULES tab. But we felt like this was a good time to remind people about the specific guidance spelled out in our harassment policy, the current version of which we have had in place since 2016. So we will highlight it here.

SHORT VERSION:

All members of the Wasteland Weekend community have the right to be treated with — and the responsibility to treat others with — dignity and respect. Wasteland Weekend is intended to be a safe space for all attendees, and explicitly forbids discrimination based on race, religion, gender, gender-expression or identity, sexual orientation, medical condition, ethnicity, or national origin. Additionally, cyber-bullying will not be tolerated.

Wasteland Weekend reserves the right to restrict the display of any symbols it considers hate symbols at any time. Displays of the confederate flag are banned at our events.

Wasteland Weekend is a private party, and our online groups are not open to the public.  Your attendance at one of our events, and your membership in our online community can be revoked at any time, at the discretion of our staff, for any reason, with or without notice. Our most important goal is the safety and enjoyment of our attendees.

Should you need to report any security issues from our events or on our social media channels, please email:

LONGER VERSION:

Wasteland Weekend’s Code Of Conduct

All members of the Wasteland Weekend/Wasteland World community have the responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect, and the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

Wasteland World Inc. events including Wasteland Weekend (“WW”) are intended to be a safe place for all attendees. It is the policy of WW to maintain an environment free of bullying or harassment of any kind. This policy extends to WW live events and activities, in WW social media groups, or elsewhere. Wasteland Weekend is a private party, and our online groups are not open to the public. Your attendance at one of our events, and your membership in our online community can be revoked at any time, at the discretion of our staff, with or without notice. Our most important goal is the safety and enjoyment of our attendees.

Harassment is a violation of our code of conduct and will not be tolerated.

Examples of harassment can include:

●  Unwanted sexual advances.

●  Sexual intimidation or threats.

●  Making or threatening reprisals after negative response to sexual advances.

●  Making or using derogatory comments, slurs, or epithets, or jokes.

●  Cyber-bullying.

●  Surreptitiously taking photos or videos of an individual for sexual purposes or using such photos

to harass or bully (If taking ANY images of attendees that are nude or partially nude, or could be

considered sexual in nature, we strongly encourage you to ask the subject for consent).

●  Discrimination based on race, religion, gender, gender expression or identity, or sexual

orientation, medical condition, ethnicity, or national origin.

(These are examples, not a complete list).

Interpretation as to which incidents rise to the level of harassment is at the sole interpretation of our staff.

EMERGENCIES ON SITE

If you have an emergency at Wasteland Weekend, or are concerned for your or someone else’s safety or well-being, please go to our medical tent (marked with a red cross), our command center (next to the Wasteland Gate), or find one of our security personnel (usually wearing a blue arm band).

SUPPORTIVE RESOURCES

WW offers resources to individuals who have experienced harassment, bullying, or sexual intimidation. We have a specially trained “crisis team” consisting of senior staff and medical personnel that have received specialized training in the area of sexual assault. Members of this team will assist you with any concerns you may have.

Any volunteer you see wearing a walkie-talkie should be able to direct you to a member of our crisis team. As a victim, you will have the right to choose what resources you use, with whom you will speak, what you will say, and when you will say it. We offer legal reporting of incidents, but we DO NOT require it. We believe it is a victim’s right to share as much or as little info about an incident as they feel comfortable.
