WASTELAND WEEKEND ON-SITE FOOD VENDORS 

Applications for 2026 Food Vendors are now closed.


Once we’ve approved food vendors for this year, we’ll update this page with that list
and a brief description of each menu.

While attendees are certainly welcome to bring their own food and drinks, we also have some great food for sale on site during the event. They all take cash, and many of them take cards, too.

Are you a Food Vendor?

County Health says that anyone selling or handing out an item to be ingested by the public at the event is considered a food vendor. This includes ice and sealed water bottle. Yes, this includes anyone distributing anything ingestible to the public beyond their personal campmates and friends, even if it’s free.

There are extra steps needed from food vendors to ensure the safety of our attendees. If this applies to you, you’ll need to fill out and submit an application (which is linked at the bottom of this page).
 If you are approved, you will be contacted by our team with additional steps to meet health department regulations.
Do not reach out to the health department on your own. We will handle that on your behalf.

Where will food vendors be placed?

We have a specific area along our Main Street for food vendors. All food vendors will be placed here. As the county does come to inspect food vendors, it’s important for us to be able to conveniently take them to each vendor all in the same area.

Are there any vendor fees?

For 2026, there is a fee for all food vendors of $400. Upon approval as a food vendor, you will receive an email with further info on paying the vendor fee.
If you get approved as a vendor, our Vendor Coordinator will inform you how to pay this fee. It is usually a Venmo or PayPal payment.

Do I and my booth / truck helpers need tickets?

YES, every person entering the event, including vendors and their helpers, must purchase an event ticket. They must be purchased a head of time, as there are no ticket sales at the gate or at the event itself. They will also need Early Access (EA) Passes to enter the event before it opens to the public, in order to set up your booth / truck. You will learn more about EA Passes in the application. 

How big is the spot I’ll get?

The standard vendor spots range from 200 to 400 square feet, and usually have a frontage of 10 feet, 15 feet, or 20 feet. Larger spots are very limited and only available upon approval. You’ll need a good reason for wanting one.

What’s included with the spot?

You only get an allotment of space to set up your booth or food truck. We do not provide any shade, tables, or other infrastructure. The event does not provide any power.

Can I use a generator for power?

Yes, with some limitations. Diesel or propane generators are generally fine to use if done safely. Gasoline generators are discouraged for safety reasons (unless they are built-in to a vehicle, like on an RV). Fuel storage is the most important safety consideration when using a generator.

We may have a designated stretch of area for vendors to place their generators, and a separate area for fuel storage. Gasoline can NOT be stored next to the generators. The event has final say about placement of generators and fuel, and our burn watch team will be regularly inspecting things to make sure everything is up to our safety standards. If our teams find that you are breaking the rules in terms of generator safety, you will no longer be allowed to use a generator for the remainder of the event.

How many people can camp in the spot with me?

Up to four people (including yourself) may camp inside a vendor spot. If you need more, you must request special permission ahead of time and have a good reason for it. Otherwise, please instruct the rest of your friends to set up camp outside the theme zone boundaries. The people camping in your space are there to assist you with your booth or food truck. These people will be the same ones who will receive Early Access to assist you with setting up on Tuesday. You will be asked to submit the names of all people who will be receiving your early access passes.

After approval:

Obtain all applicable permits and documentation, which you can read about on the VENDORS page.

Obtain a Special Event Food Vendor permit from the Kern County Health Department. (We will submit these applications as a batch – please don’t submit on your own!)

Provide copies of all required documentation to WW by July 31st, 2026.

Ensure that all required health code requirements (i.e. handwashing station) are understood and followed at the event.
The county WILL come to inspect your booth, so be prepared with the proper washing stations, test strips, and correct temperatures in your coolers!
